3 Reasons to visit New Orleans with your Dog

Are you planning a visit to New Orleans and want to bring your dog along? This guide will provide you with a pet-friendly place to stay, restaurants to try, and things to do. New Orleans is known as the Big Easy because it is an easygoing city with fantastic food, live music, and friendly locals.

Where to Stay: Sheraton New Orleans Hotel is located in the central business district on Canal Street, just a short distance from the French Quarter. It has floor-to-ceiling windows that provide gorgeous views of the Mississippi River and French Quarter. Every weekend they have Jazz music playing at the Blue Dog. You will enjoy lots of excellent dog artwork throughout the hotel. If you want to eat at the hotel, they provide three options. Roux Bistro provides cajun flavors for breakfast. The Pelican Bar has a pub feel and provides you with lunch & dinner, and if you want something quick, they have a Starbucks on the property.

I loved the property because they have a concierge on-site that can help you schedule tours. The concierge company is called Joieful. You can check out their website before arriving if you want to see some suggestions they offer:  http://www.joieful.com . Here is their pet policy: maximum 1 pet per room, $75 non-refundable fee per stay, and a maximum of 40 pounds and can not be left alone unsupervised. Places to Eat:

Cafe Beignet Canal Street, is within walking distance to Sheraton New Orleans Hotel and has outdoor seating. You don’t want to visit New Orleans and not try their famous beignets. They open daily at 7:30 AM. Check their website to see what else they offer.  http://www.cafebeignet.com 622 Canal Street.

Lucy’s Surfers Bar & Restaurant there are tons of options on their menu, so you can find something for anyone you are dining with, from salads, sandwiches, burgers, and tacos. They have a full bar and a late-night menu. Lucy’s also doesn’t forget about your dog. They offer a dog menu so your dog can eat with you. At this location, I did see dogs eating inside, too, but they do offer outdoor dining as well.  http://www.lucyssurf.com 701 Tchoupitoulas Street.

Cafe Du Monde City Park – Cafe Du Monde is iconic. Anyone that has been to New Orleans will always recommend trying their beignets and coffee. There are a few throughout the city. http://www.cafedumonde.com 56 Dreyfous Drive.

Tchoup Yard – is a huge beer garden that only allows people 21 & up. Dogs are welcome as long as they are on a leash. They also have rotating food trucks, so check their social media to see who will be there. http://www.tchoupyard.com 405 Third Street.

Café Amelie is a romantic/pretty spot that offers outdoor dining in their patio area with beautiful trees and twinkle lights. They offer brunch and dinner.  http://www.cafeamelie.com 912 Royal Street.

Dat Dog – This casual dining location sells sausage dogs, and you can choose your toppings from a list they provide. They have a few locations, but the closest one to the Sheraton is on Frenchmen Street. http://www.datdog.com 601 Frenchmen Street.

Royal House Oyster Bar – Is located in the French Quarter, and they serve traditional southern Louisiana cuisine. http://www.royalhouserestaurant.com 441 Royal Street.

If you are looking for beer and snacks, I suggest checking out The Crown & Anchor. It is an English Pub. http://www.crownandanchor.pub 200 Pelican Avenue.
