Top reasons to visit Nashville with your Dog

When I think of Nashville, Tennessee, the few things that come to mind are country music, southern cooking & hot chicken, honky-tonks, and a perfect destination to take your dog. I am sure the last thought doesn’t come up that much on your google search on a pet-friendly vacation, but Nashville is definitely a pet-friendly city. I will tell you where you should stay, eat, and things to do in this post.

FIRST: WHERE TO STAY – You know I am a fan of Loews Hotels for those who have read the previous post. I highly recommend Loews Vanderbilt because it’s in a fantastic location across the street from Vanderbilt University. Let me start off by saying aesthetically, the hotel has a very cool sexy vibe. It has this fabulous fireplace at the entrance that is two-sided, so you can sit by the fire when you are in the lobby. They have fresh flowers that are absolutely stunning. Inside, the interior design is impeccable, and the furniture is very comfortable. The lobby provides you with an atmosphere that you want to hang out in.

They also have outdoor seating with a firepit that also provides another hang-out section. I have to say, out of all the hotels we have stayed at, a Loews Hotel really ups their game in dog amenities. If you want to spoil your dog you can order them room service. When you arrive in your room you will see a placemat and dog bowls. They have a hashtag that they use, #loewslovespets, and I really believe that to be true because they treat your dog like family. In my opinion, that is how it should be since I am that crazy Dog Mom obsessed with my dog.

In the room, we had the opportunity to see the breathtaking view of the city, Vanderbilt University, and when it was sundown, the sky turned to this beautiful orangey look. It was breathtaking.

They offer a restaurant called Mason’s that offers soulfully-inspired fare and a bar called Mason Bar. You also have the option of ordering room service from their restaurant. If the weather is nice, I do hear they offer outdoor seating, but you can not bring your dog to the restaurant unless it’s a service animal. I loved our room so much I enjoyed their room service for the two days we stayed there. That also allowed me to order Teddy’s food from their room service menu. He is obsessed with the Bow Wow Tenderloin, and I will admit that it looked so good that I did steal a few pieces of his beef, don’t tell Teddy. From 6 am until 3 pm, they have a grab-and-go option called POD Market. POD is an organic market that offers fresh pastries, salads, flatbreads, organic snacks, and drinks. The last restaurant option they offer is Ruth’s Chris Steak House.

Hattie B’s Hot Chicken – they have a few locations, so find one near you. I will provide you with a little secret if you don’t want to wait in the long line, sometimes it takes hours to get an order placed I would recommend downloading their app and ordering ahead. http://www.hattieb.com

THIRD: THINGS TO DO:

Centennial Park – is a well-known park that is 132 acres and has a replica of The Parthenon in Greece. Your dog will get plenty of exercise walking & sniffing around.

Broadway– is where you will find all the action. It is known for many of Nashville’s honky-tonk bars like Robert’s Western World, Tootsie’s, and Layla’s. You will get to enjoy live music from outside. I would suggest going during the day since you will see many tourists already during the day the night is even busier. From Broadway, you can walk to the Country Music Hall of Fame and Cumberland River.

Music Row– is where you will find all the record labels; at first glance, they look like homes, but they were made into offices. Perfect place for a musician sighting.

Dogs are allowed in all Tennessee state parks

Shopping – I would check out a neighborhood called 12 South. Here you will find some great small boutiques. I highly recommend checking out White’s Mercantile. They even give out dog treats. Draper James is also pet-friendly.

Bell Meade Plantation – dogs are allowed on the grounds of the Plantation just not inside of the buildings. http://www.visitbellemeade.com
